Our Story
Our Passion for quality coffee, spirit of adventure, and motivation to bring people joy are the roots beneath The Cherry River Roasting Company. Stovetop popcorn makers, relationships with great people, and a lot of sacrifice have brought the roastery into existence, and we wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.
Love for Nicholas county, West Virginia brought us back to our home in 2019, where we bought a cheap international harvester van that we called the “rust bucket”. Our hopes were to start a coffee van business that could be mobile or permanent. Shortly after buying the van we realized that the 3mm layer of rust was going to take some time to get off. We had years of experience in roasting as well as being baristas, so it seemed best to roast and sell coffee in the mean time. After all, that was one of our end goals. Might as well get started. Roasting was done on a whirly pop popcorn maker until we could afford a Behmor 1lb/hr roaster.
Shortly after pursuing this roasting adventure we were approached by some friends who wanted to help us grow, and the rest is history. Today we are roasting on a 3k Mill City roaster and have a location at 31 E Main Street, Richwood WV. Our passion for producing and sharing quality coffee is still what motivates us everyday.
At Cherry River Roasting we believe that coffee quality is produced intentionally in seeds that come from the Coffea plant.
We spend our time researching and sampling these “beans” to find the highest quality of coffee out there. It is our hope that our coffees would be brought to full potential through your careful brewing.
