We’re Certified Bird Friendly!
Our Honduras Santa Lucia and Honduras La Esmeralda is now Certified Bird Friendly through the Smithsonian Institute! What does it mean to be Bird Friendly you may ask?
Bird Friendly coffee is grown as a shrub on shade coffee plantations alongside native tree species that form the overstory. This forest structure creates important cover and foraging habitat for birds and other native wildlife. Coffee is also a natural shade plant, allowing the oils and nutrients to develop evenly throughout the fruiting process.
Our roasts are now fashioned with the Cerulean Warbler (Honduras Santa Lucia) and the Golden-winged Warbler (Honduras La Esmerlada) which are both species that can be found in both Honduras and West Virginia (our home state!).
